The STS-41-G mission patch sticker commemorates one of space exploration's most historic flights. Launched aboard Space Shuttle Challenger on October 5, 1984, this mission broke barriers with its seven-member crew—the largest shuttle crew ever—and made history as the first spaceflight to carry two female astronauts simultaneously: Sally Ride and Kathryn Sullivan, who became the first American woman to perform a spacewalk.
The patch design by renowned space artist Patrick Rawlings is rich with symbolism. Thirteen stars in the blue field mark this as the 13th shuttle flight, while 17 stars in the black field reference the mission's original STS-17 designation. The gold center pin honors the crew's achievement, with most members flying their first spaceflight. The patch also celebrates Marc Garneau, who became the first Canadian astronaut in orbit, represented by a small Canadian flag beside his name on the crew ring.
Perfect for space enthusiasts, history buffs, and collectors of space memorabilia, this sticker captures a pivotal moment when human spaceflight reached new heights of diversity and accomplishment.
